Saturday evening we gladly welcome to join a free Sugihara Week closing concert which will be accompanied by harmonious Japanese and Lithuanian voices.
The event will await 26 Japanese performers from Ichinoseki city, which was one of the areas that endured damages during the Great East Japan earthquake. The joined Ichinoseki choir includes representatives from Ichinoseki Glee Club (conducted by Yokoyama Izumi), musical troupe Hiraizumi (director Chizuko Kajiga) and women’s choir Shiratama (conducted by Shinsuke Kishi, concertmaster Akiko Norishima).
Representing Lithuanian part: Kaunas boys and youth choir Varpelis (conducted by Ksaveras Plačiūnas), which is also performing together with his string quintet and S. Gudas jazz group. Even more energy is to flow from KTU folk ensemble Nemunas (conducted by Margarita Tomkevičiūtė), performing after their most recent trip to Japan, where they captivated local audience with traditional Lithuanian folk culture.
