We would like to invite you to participate in Vytautas Magnus University Asian Week 2017 (VMU Asian Week 2017), will take place on March 6–10 in various venues of VMU and other public places.

VMU Asian Week is a one-week long cycle of events, related to East Asia region. It aims to provide a better understanding of the region and to raise awareness about Japan, Korea and China in an accessible and attractive way. The events are open not only to university‘s community but also to everyone interested in East Asia. Asian Week is organized by VMU Centre for Asian Studies together with student clubs „Hashi“, „Wu Wei“ and „Hallyu“, in cooperation with our social partners.

Vilnius University Centre of Oriental Studies together with “Caritas” invite everyone to an open discussion about Syrian and Afghan cultures. Farah, a girl from Syria and Barak, an Afghan girl, will present their native cultures. The head of “Caritas” organization will lead the discussion.
The event will be in English, no registration or fee.

Japanese Speech Contest 2017renginys

On the 6th of March we would like to invite you all to Japanese language reading contest, organized by VMU Japanese Culture Club HASHI. This time we will hear myths from Japan and Lithuania in Japanese. The best contestants will be rewarded with presents from Japan!
Participants will be divided into 3 levels according to their Japanese language skills and will face different tasks. Beginners will have to fluently read the given Japanese myth. Intermediate students will be reading a longer Japanese myth and will have to come up with a short summary of the text in Lithuanian. More…

Open Lecture and Meeting with the Ambassador of South Korearenginys

On March 6, Ambassador of South Korea Choi Sung-joo will deliver a lecture “Lithuania, Korea and the world”. The lecture will be held at VMU Multifunctional Research and Study Center (V. Putvinskio str. 23) auditorium 312.
It is the first time Ambassador of South Korea visits Vytautas Magnus University. Therefore, he is willing to meet with the students interested in Korea and Korean language.
The Ambassador will deliver a speech in the opening at the VMU Asian Week 2017.
Korean Language contest will be held after the lecture.

Korean language contest during VMU Asian Weekrenginys

The first day of VMU Asian Week will be dedicated to languages. As a result of it, Korean culture club “Hallyu” and VMU Asian Studies Centre are inviting you to participate in the Korean language contest.
During the contest the participants will have to answer a few questions about a given text.
The tests will be evaluated immediately and the best contestants will be awarded with Korean-themed prizes.
Everyone is welcome to come and cheer the participants!

Chinese Language Speech Contest 2017renginys

6th of March chinese language and culture club „Wu Wei“ together with Asian Studies Center (VMU) invites you to participate in Chinese language speech contest.
This year all participants should present mythological creatures/free topic (topic on mythology will get bonus points). Participants from beginner and intermediate levels have to present Chinese creatures/chose their own topic, participants from advanced level can choose to present either Chinese or Lithuanian creatures or chose their own topic. Speech duration should depend on level you chose: beginners ~ 2 minutes, intermediate ~4 minutes, advanced ~ 6 minutes. More…

VMU Asian Week once again invites you to participate in Japanese, Korean and Chinese food workshop. You will be able to watch the cooking process as well as participate in tasting the meals. Different East Asian snacks will also be available for trying throughout the whole event. This is a great opportunity not to only try traditional dishes but also get to know Asian cuisine better.
