International Symposium “Diplomats who Saved Jewish Lives”

The Wednesday of Sugihara Week will be dedicated to intellectual discussion. You are invited to international symposium which will be welcomed by diplomats and researchers from Israel, Japan, United Kingdom, US, Poland, Lithuania, Netherlands, France and Germany.

Chiune Sugihara is perhaps the most well-known individual in Lithuania that contributed to protecting Jewish people from holocaust. However, at the same time there were a number of diplomats from different European countries that were saving lives of Jews as well. Few of them, a consul of Sweden in Hungary R.Wallenberg, Chinese diplomat in Austria Ho Fengshan, British consul Th. Preston, Polish diplomats in Switzerland, a representative from Netherlands Jan Zvartendijk and many more. Some of these events will be told and discussed during symposium.

Symposium organized by: Kaunas City Municipality, Vytautas Magnus University, The Sugihara Foundation “Diplomats for Life” and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania.
