We would like to invite you to participate in Vytautas Magnus University Asian Week 2017 (VMU Asian Week 2017), will take place on March 6–10 in various venues of VMU and other public places.

VMU Asian Week is a one-week long cycle of events, related to East Asia region. It aims to provide a better understanding of the region and to raise awareness about Japan, Korea and China in an accessible and attractive way. The events are open not only to university‘s community but also to everyone interested in East Asia. Asian Week is organized by VMU Centre for Asian Studies together with student clubs „Hashi“, „Wu Wei“ and „Hallyu“, in cooperation with our social partners.

This is the third time VMU Asian Week is organized. Last time (18–22 of April, 2016), the events were a great success and we attracted a lot of attention from the society. Photo gallery of previous events.

2017 programme of VMU Asian Week:

Monday (March 6) – Language Day and Opening Ceremony
1.00 pm Opening ceremony of VMU Asian Week (VMU Small Hall, S. Daukanto str. 28, 2nd floor);
2.00 pm Japanese language reading contest (VMU Small Hall, S. Daukanto str. 28, 2nd floor);
2.30 pm Chinese Language Speech Contest;
2.30 pm Korean Language Speech Contest;
6.00 pm Evening with the movie (VMU Small Hall, S. Daukanto str. 28, 2nd floor).
Tuesday (March 7) – Food Day
2.00 pm Various workshops of all the three countries. Registration is needed. (Hof hotel, Maironio str. 21A)
6.00 pm Evening with the movie (Putvinskio str. 23, 103).
Wednesday (March 8) – Culture Day
11.00-12:00 am Demonstration of Japanese Tea ceremony, by the Spouse of the Ambassador of Japan (VMU Great Hall, S. Daukanto str. 28);
12.00-16:00 am Various activities are planned – student clubs‘ presentations, cultural workshops (origami, calligraphy, cosplay), Flea Market, events by our partners, demonstration of national costumes, tea ceremony presentation, etc. (VMU Great Hall and around it, S. Daukanto str. 28);
6.00 pm Evening with the movie (Putvinskio str. 23, 103).
Thursday (March 9) – Martial Arts Day
2.00 pm Various martial arts presentations (Auditorium of Lithuanian Sports University, Sporto str. 6);
6.30 pm Lecture “Buddhist meditation in everyday life” by K. Šlenčekas (Lobby of VMU Great Hall, S. Daukanto str. 28).
Friday (March 10) – Knowledge and Career Day
11.00 am Workshops by social partners, representing governmental, tourism, business sectors;
4.00 pm Quiz tournament and the closing event of the VMU Asian Week (PuntoJazz, Kęstučio str. 6). Registration is needed.
