Rajyashree Ramesh Academy for Performing Arts and Dance Theatre Productions presents the bharatanatyam Arangetram of Neringa Raudyte and invites you to witness a truly unique aspect of classical Indian dance tradition. In the tradition of bharatanatyam, the term Arangetram (from Tamil translates literally as „entering the stage”) refers to the dancer’s initiation to the stage as such. It is the culmination of several years of training in the classical repertoire of bharatanatyam called the Margam. The dancer presents to a discerning audience and public the dance technique, capabilities in emotive expression, the understanding of music and rhythm and overall physical stamina acquired thereby. The Arangetram is the traditional debut with which the dancer’s abilities to transmit the obtained knowledge as performer and teacher are examined.
Neringa Raudyte, a disciple of Rajyashree Ramesh, has been studying and practicing bharatanatyam for almost seven years at the “Rajyashree Ramesh Academy” in Lithuania under the supervision of Irina Kushelevich. This debut is the result of a long, consistent and earnest effort, which reflects a true guru-shishya parampara, or a true teacher-disciple relationship. Accompanied by live music Neringa will not only present a traditional bharatanatyam margam-repertoire, but also a personally choreographed item, which is based on motives of Greek mythology. Conceiving and choreographing to a theme, idea or narrative is a requirement introduced by Rajyashree Ramesh that examines the dancer’s abilities to apply the traditional dance knowledge.
The Chief Guest of Neringa’s Arangetram is a renowned bharatanatyam and kuchipudi performer, choreographer, dance historian and scholar Dr. Avanthi Meduri (UK – India).
