As a part of VMU Asian Week, Culture Day will take place on March 8th. This event will provide you with a possibility to get to know Japanese, Chinese and Korean cultures better by offering a wide range of different attractions.
The Culture Day will begin with a demonstration of tea ceremony, performed by the wife of Japan ambassador to Lithuania. After the performance we will invite you to enjoy all the attractions offered in our cultural fair.
Our guests from Poland – Korean Cultural Centre – will introduce you Korean alphabet Hangul and will provide you with a chance to try on Korean traditional clothes Hanbok as well as try out some games. You will also be able to try on Japanese traditional clothing Kimono at the stand of the Embassy of Japan as well as get a chance to try out the art of Chinese calligraphy with Confucius Institute. The Institute will also invite you to take a look at their exhibition and let you try on Chinese ethnic costumes.
Japanese club “Hashi”, Korean culture club “Hallyu” and Chinese language and culture club “Wu Wei” will also be present in the fair and will invite you to join many interactive activities during the event. VMU Centre for Asian Studies will present their activities and our human library will give you a chance to talk to VMU students who have studied in East Asia. You will also be presented with a chance to buy lots of different goods from East Asia in our flea market. KTU InfoSA will be waiting for the ones wanting to try out Asian eSports and anime club “Kurokawa” will present you with an interesting workshop.
You will also be able to buy the latest East Asia themed books, relax with a cup of tea or get a picture of you taken in our photography stand throughout the whole event.
The event will be closed by a Tai Chi performance, organised by Confucius Institute. We hope you will be able to enjoy VMU Asian Week Culture Day!
Programme:
11AM – 12PM Demonstration of Japanese Tea ceremony, by the Spouse of the Ambassador of Japan;
12 – 4PM Various activities in cultural fair;
3:30PM Tai Chi and guzheng performance, organised by Confucius Institute;
6PM Korean celebrations evening
