“Kaunas-Japan Friendship Park” Planting Ceremony
Saturday is dedicated for perhaps the most abundant event of Sugihara Week, a Japanese cherry trees planting ceremony in Nemunas Island that will embody the friendship between Kaunas and Japan. We gladly hope that within couple of years we will be able to enjoy blooming cherry trees.
Kaunas Dance Theater “Aura” and Japanese Drums Team “Waon” will participate in the ceremony.
The establishment of this park is initiated by Cherry Blossom Association (Japan) and the members have bestowed 30 trees for this occasion. The other trees for Kaunas are contributed by our Japanese partners: Gifu Prefectural Government, Yaotsu Town Municipality, Tsuruga City Municipality, Izumiotsu City Municipality, Tono City Municipality, Toyohashi City Municipality, Ichinoseki City Municipality, Waseda University and Lithuanian Honorary consuls in Fukuyama and Gifu. Some of our partners will be present in Kaunas as well. Other contributing Kaunas organizations: UAB “Autotoja”, UAB “Imlitex”, UAB ”Vičiūnai” group, HOF Hotel, “Žalgiris“ Arena, “Cozy Homes“ studio, Business Women Network, Aleksotas Community, Vytautas Magnus University and others.
Hoping the weather conditions are good, as the official ceremony is finished all participants are invited to stay longer and enjoy the first picnic in the park, do not forget to bring some snacks and a warm blanket.
