Poetry is another bridge connecting different cultures. During the Sugihara Week we will present the exhibition of Japanese verses (haiku) created by Lithuanian children. All these verses with beautiful pictures were created last year and participated in the international World Children’s Haiku Contest. The exhibition will be opened on September 7, 12:00, at J. Dobkevičius Progymnasium.
The 14th World Children’s Haiku Contest was held under the theme “Morning” during 2015 and 2016, and more than 26 thousand wonderful works were submitted from 36 countries and regions. During this contest, Lithuania held the first-ever country division contest and awarding ceremony. The winner of Lithuania was Emilija Dorelytė (11 years old).
The Contest has been organized by JAL Foundation since 1990 every two years for children in Japan and around the world up to age 15. Prize winning works are published in a picture book.
