14:30 -15:30 Chinese martial arts performance and workshop.
Chinese martial art – wushu has 131 different styles and is practiced for physical ability, self-control, discipline and self-defense. Lecturers from Confucius Institute – Mr. Liang Wenming and Dou Yachen will teach us about Chaquan, Taiji Quan, Gonfu fan and Taiji sword.

15:35 – 16:35 Kuksando performance and workshop.
During this activity you will be able to try this thousand-year-old Korean meditation, system of physical education and breathing system which promotes endurance and spiritual health. The most important element in Kuksando is breathing using the lower part of the stomach and changing the body position. Such breathing fills body with vital energy and while exercising certain poses this energy is channeled into different body parts.

16:40 – 17:40 Japanese dance and workshop.
Have you ever heard about a dance which has the power not only to move even the grumpiest bodies but also to greet the spirits of their ancestors? Mikoshi master Nobuya Miyata who came to Asian Week from Japan will teach us Bon odori dance. Traditionally bon odori is performed in order to receive spirits and send them off again, however, presently religious aspect is lost, and it’s performed during the summer festivals. This dance is going to fill your day with energy.

Organizers: VMU Centre for Asian Studies together with student clubs “Hallyu”, “Hashi” and “Wu Wei”.
