„Wolf totem“ (Chinese 狼图腾) – movie based on Jiang Rong novel with same name. Movie was directed by France director Jean-Jacques Annaud. Before the movie was made, there were a lot of debates who should make a movie and after a while it was decided to give it to Annaud, because of his experience with movies where animals played big role, such as “Two brothers“ and “The bear“.

In 1969 students were sent to China‘s regions to teach locals. One of the students who volunteered was Chen Zhen who went to north side China to teach Mongols mandarin language. There he got to know about Mongolian traditions and connection to wolves. After seeing wolves Chen Zhen starts studying them and decides to raise cub, without knowing how to do that. While living with Mongols, he sees consequences that people suffer by disturbing nature. Beijing Forbidden City Film company describes this movie as “relationship between man and nature, man and animal.“

Movie will be shown in Chinese, with English subtitles. Also not recommended for people with weak nerves.

The event is free and open to all.
